Marathon Calculator
Calculate your running pace, finish time, and training paces for all running distances from 5K to ultra marathons.
How do you calculate marathon pace from a goal time?
Marathon pace = goal time in seconds ÷ 42.195 km (or 26.219 miles). A 4-hour goal = 14,400 seconds ÷ 42.195 = 5:41/km (9:09/mile). The calculator below handles this plus all training paces (easy, tempo, intervals) from your race time or target pace. Use it to pick training paces for the run leg of any triathlon from Olympic to Ironman.
- 5K pace = race pace or threshold pace for short intervals
- Marathon pace = triathlon run goal for 70.3 and Ironman
- Easy pace = 60–90 sec/km slower than marathon pace
- Long-run pace = within 30 sec/km of goal marathon pace
