    How this calculator works

Base T1 and T2 times are set by experience level, scaled by a race-distance factor (larger races have bigger transition areas and more gear), then adjusted for a wetsuit swim and long run-ins. Optional moving time is added to produce a finish estimate.

    Assumptions

    • • A standard rack-and-go transition layout
    • • Gear laid out and ready before the race

    Limitations

    • • Transition area size and rack position vary by venue
    • • Individual practice and setup make a big difference

    Who this is for

    • • Triathletes estimating realistic transition times
    • • Athletes building a full finish-time projection
    • • Beginners learning an efficient transition sequence

    Who this is not for

    • • Predicting swim/bike/run leg times (use the discipline calculators)
    • • Drafting-legal racing with flying transitions
